Take the First Step Toward a Complete Smile
If a missing tooth has been on your mind, this is the easiest place to start. Answer a few questions and find out if implants are a fit for your situation.

What You Get Back With an Implant
Losing a tooth can change more than your smile. It can affect how you eat, how your bite feels, and how confident you are around others. A dental implant replaces the tooth from the root up, helping you get back to normal.
At Greenwood Springs Family Dental Care, we focus on restoring your implant after it is placed by a trusted oral surgeon. We guide you through each step and complete your treatment with a custom crown designed to match your smile. You have a team supporting you from start to finish, with clear communication every step of the way.

It Feels Like Your Own Tooth
Once your implant is fully healed and restored, it functions like a natural tooth. The custom crown we place is designed to match your smile and bite. There is nothing removable, nothing that shifts when you eat, and nothing that requires adhesive. Patients consistently say they forget it is there. That is the point.
It Protects Everything Around It
A gap in your smile puts the teeth next to it at risk. They drift. Your bite shifts. Bone loss continues unchecked. An implant restores the root, keeps the bone stimulated, and holds your surrounding teeth in place. It is not just replacing what you lost. It is protecting what you still have.

It Is the Last Tooth Replacement You Will Need
A bridge relies on crowning the healthy teeth next to the gap to hold it in place. A denture comes out at night and requires ongoing adjustments. An implant stands on its own and, with proper care, lasts for decades. Most patients never have to think about that tooth again.

When It Is Time to Consider Dental Implants
Most patients come to us already knowing something needs to change. Implants are worth a conversation if:
- A missing tooth is affecting how you eat or what you are willing to eat
- You are self-conscious about your smile and it is holding you back
- You have a removable partial denture that never quite feels right
- A tooth is too damaged or infected to save and needs to come out
- You have been putting off addressing a gap because you were not sure what your options were

Are You a Candidate for Dental Implants?
Most healthy adults qualify for implants. You are likely a strong fit if you:
- Are missing one or more teeth, or facing an extraction
- Have adequate jawbone density to support an implant, or are open to bone grafting if needed
- Have gum disease under control, or are ready to treat it before moving forward
- Do not smoke, or are willing to stop during the healing period
- Want a permanent solution and are committed to regular care to protect it
The clearest answer comes from an evaluation. We review your X-rays, assess your bone and gum health, and tell you exactly where you stand.

What to Expect During Implant Treatment
Your treatment involves two phases: surgical placement with a specialist and restoration in our office.
Evaluation and Planning
We take X-rays and assess your bone density, gum health, and bite. If you qualify, we create a clear treatment plan and coordinate with our oral surgery partner.
Implant Placement
The titanium post is placed into the jawbone by our oral surgery partner. It is an outpatient procedure done in their office under local anesthesia. Most patients are back to their normal routine within a day or two.
Healing and Integration
Over three to six months, the implant bonds to the surrounding bone. This is what gives it permanent stability. We monitor your healing throughout and keep you updated on your progress.
Crown Placement
Once the implant has fully integrated, you return to Greenwood Springs. We scan the site, fabricate a custom crown matched to your natural teeth, and attach it to complete the restoration.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does insurance cover dental implants?
Coverage varies. Some plans cover the restorative crown, others do not cover implants at all. We verify your benefits before your evaluation so there are no surprises.
How much do implants cost?
It depends on your specific treatment plan and whether bone grafting is involved. We go over the full cost at your evaluation and confirm your insurance coverage before you make any decisions. Financing is available through CareCredit and Cherry.
Am I too old for implants?
Age alone is not a disqualifying factor. Bone density, gum health, and overall health matter more. We evaluate every patient individually.
How do I take care of an implant?
Brush twice a day, floss around it, and keep up with your regular cleanings. No special tools or maintenance required.
Can I get an implant if I have gum disease?
Active gum disease needs to be treated first. It is one of the leading causes of implant failure. We address it before moving forward and confirm your gum health is stable.
What if I do not have enough bone?
Some patients need a bone graft before placement to rebuild the jawbone. It is a common, predictable procedure. We discuss it at your evaluation if it applies to you.
Why does Greenwood Springs refer out for placement?
Implant placement requires surgical training. We partner with a specialist for that step and focus on restoring the implant and managing your overall treatment.
How long does the full process take?
Four to eight months from placement to final crown. Most of that is healing time. The appointments themselves are straightforward.
Does the procedure hurt?
Placement is done under local anesthesia. Most patients describe post-procedure discomfort as mild and manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. Swelling and soreness typically resolve within a few days.
How long do dental implants last?
The implant post is designed to be permanent. With proper care, it can last a lifetime. The crown typically lasts 15 to 25 years before it may need replacement.
Does your office place dental implants?
No. Implant placement is performed by a trusted oral surgeon. We handle the planning, coordination, and final restoration.
